A tree as great as man's embrace springs from a small shoot;
A terrace nine stories high begins with a pile of earth;
A journey of a thousand miles starts under one's feet.

Ms. Karen Nesbitt, M.A.

Karen Nesbitt, M.A., is an innovative educator, committed to developing programs that initiate a true balance between mind, body and spirit. An internationally recognized medical qigong and taijiquan instructor with Hebei Medical Qigong Hospital in Hebei China, Ms. Nesbitt founded The International Qigong Foundation, Inc. As a non-profit organization, the foundation has provided educational exchange programs in medical qigong and taijiquan around the world for the past 12 years. Ms. Nesbitt holds a masters degree in Psychology and Counseling from Antioch University in Yellowsprings, Ohio, and is a certified Special Education teacher with the Department of Education in the state of Hawaii.

Inspired by the cancer groups in China practicing daily qigong, Ms. Nesbitt developed what is called, “Social Oncology™” programs integrating medical qigong as a complementary healthcare practice. This program, Qigong Treatment and Cancer, has been featured on PBS, as part of program called Healing Quest, a national TV series providing information on integrative health and natural approaches to total well-being. As a follow up to this series, The International Qigong Foundation, Inc. offers a beginning qigong training film called, Qigong for Health, to both healthcare practitioners and their patients.

Currently, The International Qigong Foundation, Inc. is developing and sponsoring qigong, taijiquan, and yoga programs with the University of Hawaii as part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, focusing on the senior population and their healthcare needs.

The foundation offers training programs to healthcare practitioners and is an approved provider of “continuing medical education” (CME) credits through the American Academy of Family Physicians and “professional development activity” (PDA) credits through the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Training programs are offered throughout the US and internationally.
